4 CHICAGO TIPS

1.) Be careful where you park!
Chicago loves to ticket and they probably make a sizeable income off of parking tickets! (Believe me! I live here...It"s EVIL!!!)
Parking lots are EXPENSIVE!!! Ranging from $5-$15 - per hour!

2.) Take the "L"!
It's easy to use and can be very enjoyable. It might seem confusing at first. (like be careful which "Blue Line" you get on), but it is cheap and fairly efficient.

3.) Learn the Grid!
"Chicago is conveniently laid out in a grid system, although because the city isn't a perfect rectangle, the grid doesn't always go straight. Some diagonal streets help ease the pain of getting around.
* Diagonal streets that you are likely to come in contact with: Lincoln Avenue, Clark Street, Clybourn Avenue.
* Almost all of Chicago's main North-South and East-West streets are spaced by increments of 400 in addresses. Each addition or subtraction of 400 numbers roughly equals half a mile. Point Zero is at the downtown intersection of Madison (east-west) and State Street (north-south). So when you are traveling north along State Street for one mile, starting at Madison, you'll come to 800 N. State (which intersects with Chicago Avenue). Keep traveling North another half a mile and you'll hit 1200 N. State. The same is true if you are heading south east or west."-CIF website

4.) Toilets
Especially if you're visiting from another country, Chicago does not have public toilets! Use the bathroom when you get the chance!
